Tired of Flowers? Try Yarn

This fall, the latest Bohemian wedding chic is all about going a little retro from an unexpected source.  Brides are going retro with a definite crafty feel with yarn and yarn decor. According to Grace Lee in a recent article featured in Brit & Co., this particular trend of using yarn is *the* textured element for wedding décor and it’s showing up in all kinds of places.

There are some old favorites you might recognize from the 1970’s with new color and fiber updates along with some new ideas on how to make yarn décor a part of your wedding. If you’re looking for a totally new type of sendoff, why not try pom-pom confetti.  Complex yarn chandeliers or macramé hangings highlighted with LED lights or RGB lighting can add texture, dimension, and style to your wedding décor. It’s a great low-cost alternative that’s truly unique. Here are a few ideas incorporating yarn décor into your wedding plans:

  1. Pom-Poms of Every Color – If you aren’t color-shy why not incorporate pom-poms and line your ceremony aisles.  They can also be incorporated into floral bouquets, crowns and boutonnieres.
  2. DIY God’s Eyes:  Who doesn’t remember making God’s Eyes in school? You can take that bit of crafting fun and incorporate them into bouquets or decorative accents.
  3. Create Centerpieces & Chandeliers: You can set a gorgeous reception table with one of a kind and unique centerpieces crafted from flowers made of colorful stiffened yarn. In the shape of flowers fashioned from pompoms.  You can also create a chandelier by inflating a balloon, wrapping white or ivory colored yarn around a balloon. Once it’s dried, simply pop the balloon. You can add fairy or LED lights to create a soft glow. For more ideas be sure to scroll through the extensive list at Brit & Co.
