Pirates of the Caribbean Inspires Wedding

For almost 20 years, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has captured the imaginations of millions.  It should come as no surprise that weddings inspired by this series of Hollywood movies and all things pirate have now taken the wedding industry by storm!

According to a recent report at ABC7.com, one recent pirate-themed wedding was held on the beach at Coronado Island in San Diego. The happy couple wove their way through the sand among large and ornate ships lanterns before arriving at the altar with a dramatic sail-like backdrop in place of a wedding arbor. The reception was then held at a nearby hotel on the island that featured rich dark leather chairs, large crystal chandeliers and aambiancece that tied beautifully into the rich yet rugged nautical theme.

The entire look was all pulled together with the help those who recently put together a Beauty and the Beast-themed wedding.  Custom crafters Craft Menagerie and Baldwin Bridal and Events as well as a host of videographers, artisans and stylists turned the couple’s high seas fantasy into a reality.  The wedding featured everything one might expect to see on an island entirely populated by pirates.

The bride was dressed in a gown featuring a black bodice and removable lace jacket over a white, Victorian cut skirt.  The groom cut a dashing figure in a 18th Century period waistcoat over a loosely fitting poet’s shirt and taupe cummerbund sash.

After the ceremony the bride and groom held court at the reception held at the Hotel Del Coronado.  The lounge was festooned and bejeweled with splashes of gold, rich jeweled table linens were accented by metallic gold-toned plates and goblets.  Wedding cakes were dripping with pearls, jewels and rich flower bouquets surrounded by Jolly Rogers, pirate maps and treasure chests along with miniature pirate ships. Corks were used to hold place cards and invitations all printed on card stock resembling Old World maps drawn on parchment.  Instead of signing the usual guest book, attendees signed and gave well wishes on small scrolls that were tied and rolled up and placed in a bottle for the couple to read later.

This event comes just before the latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales, due out on May 26. 2017.
